2018 Brothers Before Others Member of the Year

As is the case with virtually any group or charity, Brothers Before Others is the sum of its members. We are able to accomplish what we do because we are made up of some of the most genuinely benevolent people in the law enforcement community; people who never ask ‘why’.

Very few people have had a greater consistent and prominent impact on this group than retired West Orange Police Officer/K9 Handler and owner of 911 Specialties located 182 High Street in Nutley, NJ, John Mancini.

As any member will tell you, everyone in law enforcement ‘has a guy’. John IS that guy to Brothers Before Others. Virtually every event BBO hosts or takes part in, John’s fingerprints are all over them; from signs, banners, stickers, personalized mugs, shirts and on and on and on. Despite enduring a mountain of medical/personal stress this passed year, John has literally never said ‘no’, accommodating some outrageously last minute requests time and time again; often squeezed between doctors appointments that have him driving all over the Tri-State area. Whether you’ve known John for decades or you’re a first time customer, the loyalty that he has to this group and those who wear a shield makes you feel like you’re one of his own family. He is everything that BBO is supposed to be.

As such, BBO Founder/President Michael Burke, the BBO Awards Committee and all of the members of BBO would like to recognize John as the 2018 Brothers Before Others Member of the Year.

John sums it up best: “I would like to thank BBO for, not only the award, but for being a part of this group. The brotherhood is just amazing. I started out with a business and customers; and now I have a family.”

If you are ever in the Nutley, NJ area or even if you have to take a ride, stop by the store and see him. You’ll thank us all later. Congratulations, John!
