Proud Pigs Support NJ State PBA

On Sunday, May 6th, the ‘Proud Pigs’ softball team took part in the 1st annual South Brunswick PD PBA Local 166 Softball Tournament. Members of the Pigs traveled from as far as New Hampshire in order to participate in the double elimination tournament.

For their inaugural attempt at such an event, Local 166 did a phenomenal job; supplying wood bats for each team, making sure the games ran smoothly and quickly, providing adult beverage and even a pig roast from Valenca Restaurant located in Elizabeth, NJ.

Speaking of pig roast: despite coming out of the gate strong, defeating the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office 18-7, the Proud Pigs dropped a heartbreaking extra-inning loss to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department, the eventual undefeated winners of the tournament. The Pigs were then eliminated from the tournament by Franklin Township (Somerset County) Police Department team.

All monies raised, including donated monies generated by a voluntary a home run derby, benefitted NJ State PBA Local 166.

The Proud Pigs next tournament will be in early June in New Hampshire. Check the ‘Events’ section for details.
